The power of smiling

Beauty is power, a smile is its sword…
A smile is so much more than a decoration on the face of a smiling person. It reflects inner satisfaction and positive attitude to life. Whatever it may mean, we should definitely smile more often.
When days are overwhelming and fraught with obligations, when we are exhausted, it is hard to crack a smile. Yet, situations we find ourselves in are sometimes impossible to change, but we can change our perspective and the way we see things, people around us and events. By doing so we provide ourselves with the opportunity of finding pleasure through taking responsibility for our own well-being. With that comes the feeling of self-confidence, a belief we can succeed.
Our environment dictates our mood. We must admit it is hard to be cheerful and smiling in the atmosphere filled with hurry, tension, quarrelling, etc. But as we mentioned before, we can change people around and our environment only if we change ourselves, or rather, our “looking glasses”. The way we feel is our responsibility only, although we are prone to shifting the responsibility to other people, to events and things which are beyond our control.
It is important to bear in mind that people who speak ill of others or are poor colleagues, say much more about themselves, about their own dissatisfaction and insecurity with what they say or do. You should not take words of such people to your heart and you should not resent them too much. Two people can hardly see same things in exactly the same light. And it is certainly better (as well as healthier) to be a kind of person who sees things in a positive light.
Avoiding conflicts and seeing things from another perspective (they may be having a bad day, they must be really miserable, etc) will help you preserve your own self-confidence and understand and assess better people you communicate with, your colleagues and others.
If something wrong happens or if someone does a poor job, sometimes it is better not to try to find the guilty party and not to call out for responsibility but direct energies to finding a solution.
Problems may be a source of even more problems or a challenge and an incentive for better performance and better relationships among people.
People working on their own development are more often cheerful and smiling. These people create positive atmosphere and attract other positive people and positive events. A little wit can do miracles.
Therefore, put on your smile…
